In November the project inquiries index was 52.0, down from 59.1 the previous month. The design contracts index was 48.6, down from 51.7.

Regional averages for November were mixed.

October November
West 50.4 48.3
South 45.8 46.7
Midwest 49.4 50.1
Northeast 44.9 38.7

Baker added, “The path to recovery is shaping up to be bumpier than we hoped for. While there are pockets of optimism in design services demand, the overall construction landscape remains depressed.”
