Dodge Momentum Drops 6.9% In March
The Dodge Momentum Index dropped 6.9% in March, moving to 205.6. This was down from the revised February score of 220.9. Commercial planning fell 7.8%, while institutional planning was down 5.0%.
Sarah Martin, associate director of forecasting for Dodge Construction Network, stated, “Increased uncertainty around material prices and fiscal policies may have begun to factor into planning decisions throughout March.”

Martin continued, “While planning data has weakened across most nonresidential sectors this month, activity remains considerably higher than year-ago levels and still suggests steady construction activity in mid-2026.”
From a year over year prospective, Dodge stated that the DMI was 30% higher than March of 2024. Commercial activity was up 32% and institutional planning was up 27%.
