New Leadership at NFRC
July 23, 2015
With the recent departure of its longtime chief executive officer, the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) has now lost three veteran staffers in the past three months.
Early this month, the organization’s chief executive officer, Jim Benney, became the third to go, according to a statement from the NFRC’s board of directors.
Benney, who served as CEO since 2003, follows Ray McGowan and Cheryl Gendron out the door. McGowan is now the new director of certification for the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB), while Cheryl Gendron landed with the same organization, as director of communications and events. McGowan had served as NFRC’s senior program manager since 2004 and Gendron had been its meetings manager and outreach associate.
Replacing Benney as CEO on an interim basis will be Chief Operating Officer Deb Callahan, who became COO in 2010 after serving five years as the organization’s deputy executive director.
“We wish Jim the very best in the future and thank him for his service to the organization,” said NFRC board Chairman Jeff Baker. “We are confident that Deb will provide excellent leadership to NFRC during this time of transition.”
According to its website, NEBB is “the premier international certification association for firms that deliver high performance building systems.” The NFRC, meanwhile, “has developed and operates a uniform national rating system for the energy performance of fenestration products, including windows, doors, skylights, and similar products.”
