Index Dips on Reduced Commercial Activity

The Dodge Momentum Index fell in August to 164.1, a 2.9% drop from the revised July number of 169.0.

The commercial component, which rose 25% between January and July, declined 6.1% to bring the overall reading down.

The institutional component has seen a more modest 11% rise between those months and gained 2.5% in August.

Despite decreased commercial planning last month, Dodge Data & Analytics said commercial activity “remains positive fueled by strong economic growth and still-healthy real estate fundamentals.”
