Shinola Hotel Awarded

The Shinola Hotel in Detroit, MI has won two of Retrofit Magazine’s annual Metamorphosis Awards. The project was recognized in the “adaptive reuse” and “historic” categories, winning second place in both. Three other projects Graham was involved with were also awarded Metamorphosis Awards in 2019.

The Shinola Hotel, noticeable for its striking terra-cotta façade, features eight stories and 130 rooms of hotel space, including retail, dining and public space amenities. Shinola is an American luxury-goods brand known for its watches, bicycles, and leather goods. Its name is a nod to the former Shinola Shoeshine Company.

Graham supplied over 380 windows and doors to help restore the building’s historic look. Featured most prominently is our SR6700 Steel Replica fixed window, some with false vents. Also used are our S7400 terrace doorS6800 fixed and 1200 offset fixed windows.
